Whats the REAL fuel economy for a 2000 Audi A6 Quattro?

I just bought a used 2000 Audi A6 Quattro. I plan on using it as my commuter vehicle, of course, but am a bit worried my its estimated fuel economy. Kelley Blue Book estimates it will get 15mpg city/ 24 highway... that's almost as bad as a Jeep.

buy a bmw 540i, has a nice V8, looks good, and gives 16/22mpg almost the same as the audi
