Automatic used car warranties that are not purchased?
My husband and I bought an 01 audi a6 quattro from a dealership in CO two weeks ago. It started reading low oil pressure just a couple days after we bought it, when we checked the oil gauge, it had been filled too full. It started smelling like burning oil very quickly. We checked under the hood two days ago, there is oil EVERYWHERE under the hood and now the oil gauge is showing as very low. Do you know if there are any required guaranties from car dealerships? Like one that would fix a problem with the car? We did not buy any extended warranties on the car, and if it makes a difference we live in CO.
I'm pretty sure it is not covered under the lemon law as there were not purchased warranties on it, and it is not a new car
We did call the dealership and they said they would look into it, so we're just waiting on a call back from them. That was about 4 hours ago...
Colorado has no used car lemon laws. If you didn't buy any warranties, then there isn't much as far as options. If the dealership is willing to look at it, I would let their mechanic look it over.
In addition, if you over fill the oil in a car, it can have adverse effects, however it typically would not blow out so much oil that it reads low. It actually sounds like the oil fill cap is loose. This would be the most common problem. I would go out to the car, pop the hood, and look for the oil fill cap and check it. What happens is if it is loose,
